This is a fantastic photo! Did you know the moon tonight is 40,000 miles closer to the earth?!! than normal. It's so huge and bright. I love this shot..with the cactus, and that you were able to get this awesome shot is just great!! To be able to even see the prickles on that Sujuaro is fantastic..(spelling is wrong eh? lol) and even all the little bird holes in the cactus. Well, I love this. Maybe some day you would give me permission to do a canvas painting of this? My parents live in Phoenix..and I love the look of this desert. I'm happy to be the first to comment. This photo was in the VB and I did give it a TEN...it deserves this, you did just wonderful!! Verena
Life's around said Phil the 35 millimetre cameraman. I recently went to the doctors, and said I've got icon fever, but he told me there was no cure for the disease. Flossies gallery's here
Verena's comments covered it pretty well (even though she did stumble over "saguaro"). But she's right -- the details are amazing when viewed full-size. My little camera would never be able to focus in that low light, and even if it did, the result would be noisy as hell.
All of the above! (except I didn't get it in the voting booth and I probably won't paint it, and my parents don't live in pheonix, but my sentiment is the same!lol) Amazing clarity for this kind of light! Oh how you make me miss the desert Rick! Just Beautiful!

~ Well it looked good on the thumbnail...but full size it is really AWESOME! The perspective of looking beyond the cactus to the moon make this one a real winner Rick! Fantastic job!

I hold it true that thoughts are things; They're endowed with bodies, breath and wings:
And that we send them forth to fill the world with good results, or ill.
That which we call our secret thought speeds forth to earth's remotest spot, leaving it's blessings or it's woes like tracks behind it as it goes.
We build our future, thought by thought for good or for ill, yet know it not.
Yet so the universe was wrought .
Thought is another name for fate.
Choose then thy destiny and wait, for Love brings Love and Hate brings Hate. - Henry Van Dyke.
"I never looked for it, gave it no name; yet I knew it always, when the gift of peace came. I stood quite still for the moment that it lasted...Then the light shifted slightly and the moment passed, leaving me...with the lasting echo of its presence.." Diana Gabaldon
You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being.

Like many of us I too voted 10/10 in VB on this image - with greatest pleasure and without absolutely any hesitation !
