thank you both... I had an insanely hard time with this contest. One of those deals where I made about 5 different pieces and didn't think any of them are good... but I'm glad you disagree with me
I actually used Photoshop and an image of a feather to create a brush tip in the shape of a feather. some other photoshop techniques allowed me to spread different sized feathers are all angles and such, in a placement I liked... then there was some work with the coloring, which i'm still very disappointed in... but there you have it.

This has to be one of the finest images I have seen on this site Bob.It is so simple and eye catching.The colors are rich and blend well with the feathers and after all that it looks 3D too!!!
