Between the River Road plantations and the old world charm of New Orleans lies the sleepy town of Gramercy where cattle graze amid the oaks and moss of southern Louisiana. This photo was shot on the solstice, the shortest day of the year, when this unique light strikes the moss in just this way on my drive home from work.

Very picturesque. A beautiful shot enhanced by a vivid description. A person can easily imagine being there.

Regmar, this is an excellent shot. You captured the light through the moss perfectly. The greens and greys are wonderful with a nice soft depth. Well done!

Thanks everyone. This response is a lot more than I expected. It's funny that these banal places and things can become so much more than they are if we can only manage to eliminate the unnecessary qualities that clutter our lives and distract us from what is really there.

The light coming through the moss give this an etheral quality...which is repeated by the patches of color on the grass. These are balanced by the dark verticals of the trees. Again you used a tree trunk on the left as an excellent anchor. Well done!

Very, very nice composition. Your keen eyed attempt to capture the quality of light is admirable tho I feel your equipment let you down. Unfortunate grain and artifacts detracts from the scene imo. Did you go back to this area when you had more time for the techi stuff?... If so I sure would like to see you have a go at this again. Bet you will surprise yourself. Hope I have not offended. Thanks for this Regmar
