This is the second image in my Dawn on the Lake series. The other morning I was on the lake when the sun was rising, and several dead cypress trees rose above the calm waters as I looked to the east. Here is one group that look as though they aren't long for this world.

The way you shot this photo is wonderful. Of course we received the colours thru nature..but to capture them at the precise right moment is up to us...I love where the sun is located at that moment...and then the reflections..oh my! Cypress is such an interesting wood. I have never forgotten how it felt to be wandering near a Bayou and see those lovely trees..YOu have surely done a great job on this photo! Such RICH clear colours....

As Verena says in her signature, Simplicity is elegance. Colours, composition, framing are all exceptional. Well done

This is a great photo. Nice framing, wonderful colours and I just love those silhouettes. This is a million miles from run-of-the-mill sunrise pictures. Superb.

Heehee, I looked at the thumbnail and immediately said "bet its Regmar"!!!! Fabulous colors, contrasts and reflections. This one takes me back to the sunrise shot framed by trees you posted awhile back. This has that same stunning, graphic quality. DARN ITS A GREAT SHOT!!!! You did EVERYTHING right. But you may have erred a little on the title. I don't go to church much, but I'd be willing to bet most folks would say the Diety was absolutely present when you made this photo...Mike

See, I knew this was going to be a great series. Nothing less than 10 from me. The black frame works really well, and helps the image stand out at you. Keep going....

I think Mike may be right...there is a Bible verse that says, "...Be still and know that I am
God.."...there is something of that sentiment in this photo with the obvious trauma these poor trees have been through in their lives, coupled with the stillness of the water and the glory of that sunrise...magnificent capture.:Pat.

Regmar,
This is an absolutely awesome image. It has a spiritual feel to it, like this is a place dedicated to the gods. A total 10 in my book.

Thank you all for the wonderful comments. A footnote to this image: these trees are all gone - washed away by the fury of Hurricane Katrina. I shot the images with my 4mpx camera and always planned on returning after the hurricane season when the waters smoothed to reshoot the images with my new state of the art 8mpx camera. That opportunity will never come, now.

Wow Reg..after reading your ocmment and then what you worte above, it seemed as though you had a premonition about these trees. The image is so beautiful and so poigmant...even more so now after Hurricane Katrina. I am lgrateful that you were able to get as many beuaitufl iamges as you have...it goes to show all of us just how important photography can be. Hubby & me were reviewing tapes from 4-5- years aog..some of the grandkids, I thought I would never forget what they looked like small, but I really do forget some of the littlest things....I like how our memories are jogged by photo's or movies and then we can take that trip down Memory Lane. It is one of the things I particularly like about this sight is every time I log on I find a capture that jumps from the FI page. This is no exception. This is a timeless and classic image. Simple, direct and so calming. A lovely work Regmar. Thanks a lot for sharing with me.
