New Orleans Is Dying

This image has little artistic value. It is not beautiful. This is what a city looks like as it dies alone and abandoned. The catastrophe that destroyed New Orleans is not over. We have not recovered. This city is still in ruins, and we need help. The government of the United States seems to have shut its door in our faces.

Do Not Let This Happen! Remember - this could be your city, your county, your family. Tell your leaders that they need to stop spending money on other projects and SAVE THEIR OWN PEOPLE!

It’s not a pretty site Regmar and comes with a sad story. With a defence force larger than the population of my country I would have expected a quicker and more effective response to your crisis from your government. I think there must be factors at work here that aren’t apparent to the remote observer.

Bravo Reg Bravo! This is what the world needs to see and hear.!! Our hearts ache for all the ones who have suffered in New Orleans...I lived in Louisiana for 15 years...and to see this part of the South so neglected is unexcusable!! Hopefully many will take it upon themselves to do all they can to help. And may ALL of our prayers be heard by the Creator of this earth and its universe!!! Thank you Reg...for posting this!!!

My heart goes out to every resident and rescuer who has been affected by this devastation. I don't know what the answer is, but as we know, the solution will not be quick in coming. Your image tells a story that only those who were there know about. Thank you for posting it Reg. With ((((hugs))))).....................

Reg, this is now my desktop, not that I see the usual beauty of your shot but rather that it will stand to remind me of the pain lived by our friends in the area. Sobering.

Thanks Reg, for your careful sharing of this image.

Sincerely,

Rob

Like you said, this is more a dokumentary picture, but just the same it is a picture with a strong message to all people, who live in a more quiet and peaceful place, to estimate there own life better. I spended a long time to study this picture, it really tell more than thousand words.....the other people above, have already expressed what I feel myself. Thank you for sharing this picture with us /HJ.

Hi Regmar, my heart and my soul is in total and complete agreement with you! I felt incomprehensible grief, and still do, for these suffering victims! You may not have noticed, but I posted my "My Rose of Hope", very shortly after the sea had entered and swiped life and breath from the hearts of these people! I have a daughter living in northern LA, and she was safe, for which I will be forever greatful! We must all continue to offer our prayers, our sweat, our time, our homes, and our monies to fund the support of these still hurting people! Sincerely, Marilyn

Rebuilding is a slow process but with time New Orleans will rise again. I'm sorry for the loss caused by the past hurricane season. We have all suffered the effects of these storms and discovered the weakness of our government support systems. Thank you for showing us that this problem does not go away when the news crews return home. I pray that our nation will continue to provide support until New Orleans and the other areas damamged by those storms are restored.
