These were once mighty cypress trees - on land. The erosion of the marshland in South Louisiana has caused much of what used to be firm land to become water. The trees which stood there, now isolated in the water fight hard, but once the salt water covers their roots their fates are sealed. These grand old warriors of the swampland lost their fight years ago. Hurricane Katrina finished them off, and now their bones litter the shorelines of the waterways, lakes and bays of my home, forlorn reminders of what we have lost. I thought it was worthwhile to wade out to these trees, and set up my tripod in the water, so my Olympus eVolt could capture this for you.
Your narrative really makes this an outstanding shot!
Thanks for going out there in the water!
