While attending a concert in the local park, my wife and I stepped out into the garden to see what the spring hath wrought. In the reflecting pool the sunset was reflecting off the underside of the clouds, and the clouds were reflected in the pool. This hyacinth (I think) bud was about to burst forth, and I decided to see how I could photograph it. I shot it slightly out of focus to give a soft effect, and let the golden reflections do the heavy lifting. I hope you like it.

The golden reflections are the scene stealer and almost make the flower radiant. It doesnt' look soft focused to me, (the bloom itself), but it could be these old eyes. I think that might be a pond lily about to open. An opportunity well taken.

What a very simple and very good picture. The glow around the flower works well. Was it a soft reflection from the cloudy water, or slightly enhanced. Whatever, it worked.

I agree the golden glow reflection really is the enhancer of this scene. The flower looks like a periscope looking around to see if anything else is blooming. Nice photo Regmar, I can't really think of any thing negative to say. You know I would.

This is beautiful, I think soft works well here probably due to the lighting. You must have got there at just the right time as the glow behind the bud brings it out perfectly. I gotta ask who were the band playing , as it`s no recommendation you stepped out to get a picture. It`s a great image and I`m glad you had a wander.

What a magnificent photo my friend! So soft, the pastel look of the evening is wonderful. I think it's a waterlily about to burst forth also. I am sure you had a most wonderful evening with all that great music. Wish I had been there! I wonder how many groups you ended up going to hear. I'm so glad you took time to take this photo, I hope you took photos of all the other "night life" also..please share soon!! Verena

OK, OK the band was a local duo called "Tony Green". They're really quite good, but they had paused for an intermission when I shot this image. In truth there is very little music good enough to distract one from the explosive, magnificent, sublime beauty of New Orleans in the springtime. The soft erotic calla-lilies, the opulent magnolia blossoms, the ruby-red riotous rose blooms, and of course the decadent hyacinths on every pool are so distracting that most people find it difficult to get anything done here amidst these transient riches of nature. What makes it even worse this year are the comfortable 75-degree temperatures and gentle breezes that invite us into the yards and gardens where nature can enthrall us with her ineluctable charm.

Oh, and they had speakers in the garden too :)

I decided to follow advice and try and do a 'proper' review and you Reg were randomly chosen as my guinea pig:) Then I get to your gallery and this - in my opinion quite the masterpiece - stands out, calling "look at me look at me!" So I did and I find it quite enchanting. I have saved it.
So no review - I am not clever enough to comment on techniques and technicalities - but I did want to say how much I like it :)
