The image is really lovely but whats with the white line on top?? I would have cropped that if I were you... also adding some more saturation would do wonders for this pic ;) Just my 2 cents. Cheers!
Oh yes, the Japanese Gardens are so unique...and you got this shot just perfectly. The maples are so soft in colour...and the waterfall is wonderful. It shows its beauty in the way the water flows and isnt all white like some take these photos of falls. This is really lovely . I live about 5 miles from the Rose Gardens and the Japanese Gardens...I'm so glad you posted this..thank you so much.by the way, welcome to caedes, I know you will really like it here, its a great bunch of talented people who are so helpful......verena
Beautiful, a true simble of peace and tranquility. I ts a great capture, wouldnt mind the colours being a tad more vibrant or more contrast, but still well done!

I actually had notice the white band at the top until cyberkat pointed it out - this in fact was an artifact of sloppy cropping in preparation for posting here - the original doesn't have it.
As far as the saturation, I was trying to keep it true to the scene at the time - which was actually in fading light. But I have around with it more and I think I will post a new version - without the white band and the a bit more saturation.
I've updated the image - it is now posted as Japanese Gardens - Portland II.
Took suggestions to saturate the colors a bit more (and fix the cropping issue). I think the new one looks "better".
However, I'm a bit conflicted because in the actual setting the light was pretty low and the colors were not nearly as "vibrant" as in the new image (I don't think that even in more light they are as vibrant in the posted image) and there is a strong "zen" quality to the gardens which seems counter to enhancing a picture to give it more "zing".
