I took this picture in a town in Bavaria. On the day I was there the rain had been pouring down all the time, and the picture that came out was rather grey and boring, so I felt that it needed a bit of "beautification". I believe that the results do more justice to the charme of the place. This is one of my first attempts at photo manipulation, so I would be very interested to here your comments as well as suggestions. Rob

Rob: What a great post! It amazes me this started out as a photo. I don't know much about manipulation, so can't comment on that, but I can see that your efforts paid off. The composition is great and the colors came through really well.

Well you did done good...even if you were a seasoned manipulation veteran!! You did an excellent job with the post work. This oil painting feel is a great choice for the subject. Very well done!!

Nice other-worldly feel! I think the original pic is probably something I'd like also. Now you need to write a spooky fantasy story about two children leaving this beautiful town to go through the woods to Grandmother's house....

i really like the painting look to this. it adds a great effect, especially since so many European towns look so surreal they look like a painting in real life. which town was this?

The place is Landsberg am Lech, around 35 km. west of Munich. The picture is taken on the other side of the bridge coming from the town centre, the google earth coordinates are: 48° 2'51.12"N, 10°52'26.28"E

I never quite fully understand what people do to their pictures but this one looks like a painting my grandmother did years ago, with a knife. Nice job!
