This shot was a bit of timing and luck. When I went back a week later to take some different angles of the ice It had melted... All that was left was a dead log in a sink hole...Good lesson about taking more than one shot when your instincts tell you too!

Strike while the iron is hot...er...cold. Even if it had not melted, chances are it would have sublimed away out in the open like that.

Good timing and good thinking. Excellent focus. The coloration really says, "whoa, Is it ever cold" The chunks of limestone lends further hardness to the scene.

I like the image it may have been even better if the log with the ice was not in the direct centre of the shot.
