Buddha's Hand is a fragrant citrus fruit. It grows on a shrub or small tree with long, irregular branches covered in thorns. The fruit is a type of citron,is often described as lemon-like, is very fragrant and is used predominantly by the Chinese and Japanese for perfuming rooms and personal items, such as clothing. The fruit may be given as a religious offering in Buddhist temples. The origin of Buddha's Hand is traced back to Northeastern India and is believed to be the first citrus fruit known in Europe. It is speculated that the Greeks and Romans brought them back from Asia. Nikon D70s, 2006/06/18. Compressed RAW (12-bit) Image Size: Large (3008 x 2000), Lens: 18-70mm F/3.5-4.5 G Focal Length: 56mm. This is too cool, Roy! The fruit certainly looks to have the texture of a lemon. Very nice composition. Great clarity, and the lavender and greens in the background compliment the subject nicely. The history is fascinating to me, as I have never seen one of these before. Thanks so much for sharing it =)

Most unusual plant Roy but you've certainly captured it with clarity and great lighting and what an interesting story with it. Outstanding post and thanks for sharing it.
