I think that might be a Lesser Ringed Pudding Bird. Also known in less salubrious quarters as the "Chubby Yum Yum Chrissy Bird". Only to be seen around the Christmas season and apparently they taste quite fruity if cooked well with custard powder for the "stuffing" and a light port glaze applied liberally during the roasting process. :)) Or not.
Mikel.
I wonder if it got away from a bird sanctuary or something, being tagged like that. Excellent shot of the colorful bird. I have no idea what it called, though.
John, think Mikel is wrong, as to me it's a 'burung terbang kembali', an Indonesian bird with flying backwards capabilities, LOL!
I'm serious now: Think however that this bird is a rock partridge or belongs to this family.
Very fine and crisp capture anyhow.
Regards, Cornelius.
Just need a pear tree and we are good to go with the Rock Patridge, John. An excellent shot. I suspect they are checking i's migration habits or maybe it is a former member of the Partridge Family Band. :)
John - Saw this fine photo in VB and was very impressed. I might clone out the two stems in the upper right, though it hardly detracts from this photo. Thad
