Tick, you seemed so disappointed that my last post didn't include the Calatrava, this one is for you! Seriously, this one will take a beating at the VB, but for those of you that have been playing along at home I had to share this with you. Wisconsin Av is the main street through downtown Milwaukee. It runs due East through downtown until it reaches the lake, then turns North. Some 30 odd years ago, when this type of thing was all the vogue, the big orange monstrosity was created. Instead of a breath taking view of the Calatrava and Lake Michagan as you drive down THE main street in Milwaukee you get...Orange. Steel girders. Bolted and welded together. My shots Spread Your Wings and Bird at Rest were taken with standing directly in front of this orange beast. Thanx for indulging my obsession once again! Rich

Someone should kick the Chairman of the Planning Commission directly in the ... Maybe you should tell them it's OK to admit their mistake and take it down. Most perfect title I've seen in a while. Glad you kept auto in photo for perspective. Now to make the best out of a bad situation. It looks like a giant bird about to gobble up obnoxious orange bug. You captured it perfectly. I enjoyed your explanation. Nice post Rich.

Isn't it absolutely amazing what we can capture with our lens, and what we can leave out! I never would have imagined this monstrosity blocking the view or perspective of the Calatrava!

You're right! It's hideous! lol At least it has a recognizable form. The one they put outside the Fine Arts Center at the University of Massachusetts is just some bent up metal with no redeeming qualities and it cost $22,000 about 20 years ago. I wish they'd asked me to make it. I could have used the money back then and done just as good a job! lol

What is this suppose to represent?...A ship?...

I can understand folks not liking it...we have the same kind of 'Monumental Rubbish' over here too!...

I bet the designers laugh all the way to the bank eh!

I think it is more of you indulging of us with these interesting pictures. I would guess it has something to do with "crossroads" or "directions" of the people of Wisconsin. I am sure the artist wanted it to represent the area (hopefully).

An interesting capture Rich. I'm not sure what the orange structure represents, but the contrast in colors with the Calatrava is very striking. Very nicely done.

Mmmmm, interesting, Rich. Doesn't do anything for me either. Nice capture though.
