Memorial Day, Part 1

This is the Vietnam Veteran memorial built perhaps 16 or 17 years ago on Milwaukee's lakefront. The 3 pillars represent the 3 Theatres of War: Land, Sea and Sky. The bricks have names on them listing the war dead and those still officially listed as MIA-POW. On this week-end I would like to thank and remember all of our veterans, salute them for their service, and pray for their safety. It is hard to believe that in the not so distant fututre there will be no more veterans of WWII still with us. And a special thank you and recognition is deserved for those who fought in the forgotten coflict, the Korean War. Sandwiched beyween WWII and Vietnam we tend to forget that conflict saw over 33,000 American deaths alone. I also salute all of our men and women in uniform today, including my son who I love, respect and continue to pray for. Rich

Salute!! What a great photo and I love the information. This is really a great tribute to all of those who have served. It is hard to believe that one day soon there will be no WWII Vets alive. The sad thing is no one will know when the last passes on. Not even the last survivor. Such is the way of time. Just a great post BR.

I feel sadness that such memorials are so necessary, but I also feel glad they exist to honor those who fought, and those who are fighting today...

A very impressive memorial. Very good angle on it, and thanks for the narrative.

Nice perspective and it is in a really nice location too. Great shot, Rich and how I wish there never had to be any names on those stones.

Wonderful capture with great perspective ... the clarity is superb. I happened to visit a Veterans Memorial today, so I salute all veterans & those that are still serving their countries as well. Thank you for sharing Rich & I will continue to pray for your son & others.
