Just a simple leaf in my backyard, just barely hanging on...but I liked the colors and the way it was backlit. I'm still not to sure about macro work, so honest comments and critiques please.
Beautiful view of this very pretty leaf. Reminds me of Christmas with its red and green. Maybe you could lighten this just a tad and it would be sensational.
I love this one... it seems a unique and unusual beauty... the bright autumn color signifying change and the green of the veins holding onto summer...

I think it's great, Rich. The contrast of the veins is stunning. I doubt tweaking up the gamma / brightness / saturation, etc. would really be an improvement. Good is good!
In all seriousness, fill the frame with the patterns and colours of the leaf and those intriguing veins.
Having some 'background' ... is not, in my humble opinion ... adding any value to your image here, Rich. And I do believe that even with your P & S, it will allow you to get closer.
The diagonal line of the main vein is nice. However, it is not strong enough to carry the overall composition on it's own as you have presented your photo to us.
Very nice colourations. Good detail and clarity are definite pluses and strengths.
In fact, get real nutz ... and bring along a secondary source of light. You like the backlighting? Me too. Let's see it, then. A piece of gauzy cloth can serve as a diffuser if need be.
Summarizing?
Pleasant to view.
Good good 'first' for your macro forays with this camera. Get closer, or at the bare minimum ... take a couple or so closer than you are comfortable, without being ridicu'less' of course.
I do like that, once again, I see some aforethought before pressing the shutter release. And thank you for sharing this one with us. :o)
I would tend to agree that lightening it up may improve the image, as cynlee suggested. It is a very beautiful leaf, the colors and detail of the veins as emphasized by the backlight is wonderful.
It has a vein look to it. It must be a vane leaf. lol
Nice post.
