The depth of field is spot on, his head is the sharpest thing in the image and the rest is nicely softened so as not to distract from that look of concentration which is the heart of the story. You got the feel of him "lurking in shadows" without actually having to deal with deep shadow. The lifted paw gives a sense of movement rather than a static pose and the right angles of those twiggy branches act as a kind of frame within the photo. All damnfine by me.
