Very good detail in capturing this brilliantly red rose, Rob. I've found that capturing flowers in red or white in direct sunlight is a tricky situation. But I'm not surprised that you did a splendid job on this. Since I post flower shots about as often as you do, I'm no expert. Caedes friends have told me that the best flower shots should have a dark, blurred back which makes the flower "pop". With the bright blue sky as a backdrop I think that they might be right since I seem to have a problem transitioning between the powerful red and the dynamic blue. But since I've never taken a flower shot half as good as this. I'll give you a 7.
A little shallower depth of field could be nice. I find the trees slightly distracting. Excellent capture of the roses! Color and saturation are perfect. I think the blue sky works well as a complementary color too.
People aren't going to remember the things you do. They're going to remember how you made people feel. Be kind, gracious, and appreciative. Dan Winters - Photographer.
