This would be a great entry for the contest in my humble opinion. I like it a lot. The shapes, almost wooden textures, dusty or fiery colors and the lighting, it all looks fantastic to me. I wonder what is going to be built here...or? Excellent work!

Rob, it really does not matter what it is. It is still an outstanding work.

First of all, Rob, I have to say that I love the title of your posting. That title is only surpassed by the exquisite and descriptive prose in the narrative.

Now that I have that out of the way, this is one intriguing shot. Parts of it remind me of M.C. Escher. This looks like a 3-D shot of 4 cubes, each comprised of 4 blocks of wood. I love the colors and textures, but I can't identify the materials. Looks like something between brick and wood. And this would be a great contest submittal.

The most interesting part of the shot for me is the back block which is either one level above or on the same level as the rest of the background. Beautiful work, Rob. I wish I knew how you did this stuff. The next time you're in California, maybe we can have a sit down at the computer. You can do a seminar and I'll supply the LSD.

Looks like some stoney or watery background made into some seats. What ever you made this out of, I love the color red.

They look like acrylic, colorless cubes picking up the colors underneath where they are setting, maybe a little light adding to the beauty. Great entry.

Very impressive and creative work! The detail and abstract is truly intriguing, and I like the choice of color =)

I am not sure either but it sure is cool. Kind of reminds me of a wood floor in a haunted house.

Looks like someone forgot to read the instructions when laying down this hardwood floor. Not only that they also messed up the marble inlay design. Lovely colours and nice textures in this creation. Very nicely done.
