Rob, now you have totally confused me. I walk around in a dazed state most of the time anyway; so don't pull a muscle trying to pat yourself on the back.
I would categorize this shot as being a contradiction and conflicted. On the one hand you have the purest of blue skies with a tinge of fog or mist, almost no wind as demonstrated by the lack of chop on the water and the lack of lateral movement from the emissions from the smokestacks, a colorful buoy in the foreground, and what (at least at this distance) appears to be a relatively nature friendly industrial complex. I don't see anything that I would call soot coming from the smokestacks. It looks more like harmless water vapor on a cool morning.
So this isn't the dark underbelly of the Netherlands. It almost looks futuristic and environmentally friendly. Not the way I have a huge industrial complex pictured.
So if you were trying to confuse me and destroy my stereotypical vision of the waterfront, you succeeded brilliantly. If your goal was to show the beauty of a shoreline covered by a massive industrial complex, you succeeded. I think I'd better smoke a doobie and reassess.
You are hereby awarded a "fave", two wow's and an admission that you busted my stereotype into a zillion pieces. Hard for me to admit, but this shot is a beauty. No rust, no sludge, no toxic byproducts. Amazing.
Skitzo doesn't leave much to cover when he gets through Rob. Please don't dedicate another to him. :) Your buoy seems to like the water. He must get that from you. I like the distance you left the complex from the foreground.
I see some rare dutch giant blue cranes in your photo leading me to believe this is a photo of a bird sanctuary. A nice view of the harbour industrial site, Rob. Good colours and depth in your photo.
