Old crane but well look after with a go coat of paint.Lovely photo with lots to see in it too.The light and shade you captured just right as is the reflections in the water as well.Love how the sun illuminates the inside of the building bottom right too.Well done very interesting looking photography.
I've been scolded again by a moderator; so my comments will no longer rate six creds. I am contemplating taking a break from Caedes as I'm not very good at editing myself. As I'm sure you've noticed, my comments tend to have a life of their own and just flow. When I start a critique, I never know where it'll end up. I feel like a Corvette with the emergency brake on.
Here we go with an attempt at a critique from the "new" Roger.
As you know, I'm not crazy about clear blue skies or white skies. We both seem to have some of both as well as the occasional light fluffy clouds. Considering the clear blue skies, I see no noise. Good job with that. I love the architecture in your images and the water ways that are simple asphalt streets where I live. The reflections are mirror-like which means you arrived on the scene when there was no wind. The boat in the foreground right is clearly focused and helps to add depth to the shot. My only problem with this shot is a lack of detail in the distance. I'm struggling with focus issues on many of my postings so I'm hyper-aware of sharpness. On your images I would typically be able to read the sign that is immediately to the left of the crane. Of course, I wouldn't have a clue what it meant, but I think you get my drift. This only rates an 8.2 in today's VB.
I was looking for an egret type crane and couldn't find it Rob. I suspect cranes have been a way of life in your ship building/repair part of the world for years. Fined depiction. Good scene. On a side note I can't imagine a moderator can calm Skitzo down too much.
Rob - I like the composition. To me, the image is a 'good' busy - with much to look at, while the focal point, the old crane, is very much what the eye continually returns to. With the white buildings and yellow crane, the blue sky serves as a perfect backdrop. Thad
I've never seen a crane like that before. Excellent detail & colors. The mirror reflections caught my eye too. A wonderful & interesting capture, Rob. I like.
