I'm horrible, Rob, at picking the winners and losers in these contests. Just when I think I have posted a winner, I don't come close and many times think that the contest has been rigged when I see the winners. Not sure where you were able to find crocodile foot prints in The Netherlands, but you've done a nice job.
As always, your post photo work is stellar. The sand almost looks like it was compacted with a steam roller because it's so flat. I had thought about doing a similar posting. I have some gigantic wild turkey prints in my driveway that will probably survive for months. Once a footprint hits the wet decomposed granite in an untraveled area, it's good for a long while.
I think.. think, that is ... that what you are presenting to us is that of some bird footprints on sand.
But..
You've managed (quite successfully) to massage/manipulate the sand texture into that of cement-like. (At least, to my eyes.)
Caveats?
Being bold here, hope you don't mind.. strange aspect ratio.
My personal preference would be to keep to a 16:9 wide aspect, as I feel/think/believe it suits the simplicity of your subject matter.
And..
Gets things off of the mid-horizon point, lessens the amount of.. erhm ... what's the word, 'superfluous' space in and around the footprints.
Something like this:
"Foot print" - Cropped
From the above, I get more of the sense and feeling of the travel across the image. (Motion, simply put.)
As well as, and as alluded to.. highlighting the footprints.
Then again..
... ...
I've already eaten loads of chocolate and am typing this while hanging from the ceiling.
:oP
Good good eye, good good image for the contest. Best of luck to you.
