This is how I make them....in the series Stepping out of time to make the images I first repair the image save and then convert to B&W. Then proceed to color the main subject. Now have two images one sephia and one B&W partially colored. I can now in two layers blend the two into each other gives me full control in both layers light, darken, color control can also control the transparency of both images. Some think it's a kind of magic it's not when you understand the the basics it's magical to do...;0) Here's the link to Stepping out of timeShephia/color If you should wonder I have all the B&W/colorised images but this is my personaal favorite.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

This has a tremendous impact in so many ways. Coloring is excellent, amazing scene and expressions, especially when you compare to what would be a similar scene today. Really makes you understand the passing of time and the many changes in our lives. Wonderful project you are undertaking, your skills are perfect for this.

I think the Sepia tone gives it an older looking effect then this b/w Rob. The b/w really shows the starkness of the times.
Another one well done.

Part of what makes these images remarkable, Rob, is your treatment of them. The other part is your selections, allowing us a glimpse into another time when, while being simpler, were also tougher. That made for a lot tougher people than we have today. These are the people who weathered two world wars, a depression, child labor, flapper dancers, poor cell service, and the absence of all that is true... Wickipedia... ;oP

All kidding aside, while some of us are floundering, looking for a field within the disciplines of photography and digital art, in which we can find interest and excel, you have truly found yours.

Rob, Perfect editing, conversion from sepia into B&W, and partly colorization as well.
By the outfits of these youngsters (textile mill workers) and the expression on their faces, I'm glad that I haven't lived in that era, in spite of your 'attempt' to give some 'color' (meant figuratively in this case) in the life of the by you colorized boy. Must have been a tough life.
Very well done per usual, my friend!
