The look of determination. He dares you to try and prevent him from doing what he wants to do.

A superb addition to this series, my friend. Each is different, and each is thought provoking by the look on the subjects faces. tigs=^..^=

Rob, by the perfect way of colorization of this very young textile mill worker Francis Manning, you've even achieved a more intriguing image when compared with the original one. I've tried to image what it had done to me if I was condemned to do child labor (at the age of this boy), but it's beyond my imagination, so a touching image to me as well.
Great addition to this series again, my friend!

He is so well groomed and looks to have much pride in himself, Rob.
I would say he weathered the child labor rather well compared to some others. It is plain to see he is a redhead with his complexion and freckles.
Another good one.

As John said, this young fellow has such fierce determination on his face, so very different from most of the others you've shown us lately. I would not be surprised to find that he eventually became the owner of his own shop or perhaps a successful politician (although I could not find a record of one with this name). What I did find is that he's eleven in this photo (one of several Hine took of him), and "helped" Arthur Phaneuf in the Palmer Carpet Factory during his [school] vacation. "I take off the cobs and put on empty spools. I do it just to learn. No pay." A rather matter-of-fact fellow, this one.

He has the look of confidence and could eventually advance into a managerial position or possibly become the owner of a mill - Great work as per usual Rob!!!!!!!!!!

Another perfect piece of work Rob.
I think this lad would have gone far. He had a defiant look.
I hope he did

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

What a look in his eyes with his chin down looks like he's thinking if he likes the photographer
