He is striking a very pensive pose Rob. I can't help but think he would like to be helping with the construction and sharing his expertise, but for some reason they don't want his input. Perhaps his health is such he can't work.
His torn jacket makes me think he is a proud man, but can't afford much these days. Very poignant and well done.

You really know how to choose just the right ones to work on Rob...I like this one a lot...the appearance of the man, his attire, pose, and demeanor so reminiscent of my Grandparents day and age...great work on this.

Very good detail on the main man, I notice his jacket is a little worse for wear too. His concentration captured the mood.

Excellent choice of colors and the result is perfect. His stance draws you in, to the point where you are intrigued by who he is and what he is thinking. Not often when a photo does that, quite remarkable capture. Your skills excel, Rob.

I would love to know what he was thinking.
Not much I can add to the praise already given for this perfectly coloured image Rob

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

One of those images that brings the viewer right into the photo. Each of us can put ourselves in this gentleman's mind (me, in particular--he's not that much older than I am). We've all been there, watching something that causes us to be awed, to reminisce, to wonder how the heck do they do that... it's human nature and this photo capture it perfectly. I'm guessing this was one of those secondary "surprises" for the photographer. Vachon (the photographer, for those viewers who don't actually read Rob's accompanying posts) was probably there to photograph the subway construction and was drawn to capturing this old fella's attention to the work. A private glimpse into this man's personal nature. It brings to mind the tearful face of the black musician, reacting to the death of president Kennedy, a much stronger emotion but still an individual's private moment.
