Looks to be such a hard working person, whoever took her photo should be helping her. Nice work on your part though.

I can't help it Rob, but thanks to your perfectly done colorization work, this photo reminds me, although it's not a similar situation, of this song.
Anyhow a striking one to me, my friend!

The crops are all in and the peaches are rotting
The oranges are filed in their creosote dumps
They're flying 'em back to the Mexico border
To take all their money to wade back again
Goodbye to my Juan, farewell Roselita
Adios mes amigos, Jesus e Maria
You won't have a name when you ride the big airplane
All they will call you will be deportees
My father's own father, he waded that river
They took all the money he made in his life
It's six hundred miles to the Mexico border
And they chased them like rustlers, like outlaws, like thieves
The skyplane caught fire over Los Gatos Canyon
The great ball of fire it shook all our hills
Who are these dear friends who are falling like dry leaves?
Radio said, "They are just deportees"
Is this the best way we can grow our big orchards?
Is this the best way we can raise our good crops?
To fall like dry leaves and rot on out topsoil
And be known by no names except "deportees"

A very honest capture by the original photographer, that shows the weariness in her face of this tiring work...I like your choice of subtle, neutral color here as opposed to something more bold...it fits well with the mood of the subject...great work, Rob!

Pat's right; your somewhat washed coloring matches this woman's obvious washed energy for the labor of her day. Her hair, strained face, worn hands, and worn clothing all point to an existence I'm thankful for not having. I've watched the Grapes of Wrath numerous times over the years, Steinbeck's Pulitzer Prize-winning story of these very people, and your choice of stills, Rob, makes the story of the Joads come alive. For anyone who has not seen John Ford's 1940 film, here's a short summary to the tune of "Who Will Comfort Me?"

Colorization suits the essence of this scene. Dramatic, very strong image. Good work.
