This type of imagery makes me thankful for what I have, and is a good reminder to all of us of those with difficult times in their lives.

Oh my, how gaunt and such an expression of despair...a very telling image and your delicate, somber coloration perfect for this subject and setting...excellent work, Rob!

They look very worn down. Thankfully their dwelling looks secure and strong. Something about the mother makes me want to cry.
Beautifully and sympathetically coloured Rob

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Just as the term "gay" meant something entirely different in 1935, so did "rehabilitation". Today it's more closely associated with helping an individual deal with an addiction to drugs, but in 1935, particularly in terms of the resettlement of sharecroppers in southern states like Arkansas. On April 30, 1935, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt established the Resettlement Administration. The Resettlement Administration was part of President Roosevelt's New Deal. Roosevelt hoped that his New Deal would allow Americans to cope with the Great Depression, would help end the current economic downturn, and would help prevent another depression from occurring in the future. The obvious stress this woman is exhibiting has to derive from her environment of poverty, and hopefully, FDR's plan brought her solace.
