Gosh I love this. I miss using my Canon 35mm..it has all those great filters, there is just something about using them in comparison to messin' with that stuff on the puter....! This is gorgeous! A wonderful view.....a great shot of the movement of that good ol' Pacific!!
The goldtones work in this. My favorite in this style of yours so far. Really stands out in the thumbnail and full-view blends and does not distract from the clarity. Also like the placement of everything in this one.
this is amazing! i live in nebraska and the only breathtaking pictures i get are of the sky or flowers. how do u use filters anyway? can u use them in photoshop?
John 3:16
" For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life."
Thanks for the comments everyone, I appreciate them all. As for the camera filters - I use circular polarizers, mostly from Singh-Ray. The filter I used in this and in some other shots was a blue/gold variable polarizer - meaning that as it's rotated it blocks certain wavelengths more than others. The resulting image is strongly biased toward one color, which I can enhance in Photoshop. The filters can be expensive, but when used creatively, will give very interesting results. If you want to see the results a true pro can get from these filters, check out the late Galen Rowell's website http://www.MountainLight.com
you have a great gallery, some awesome photos, i just have one nit with almost all your work, you OVERSHARPEN way too much. often the pictures you sharpen so much are pictures that wouldnt need any, they'd be a good soft picture. i think it only bugs me so much because i find i tend to do it aswell untill i look at 2 variants of the pictures like a week later and realize the unsharpened one actually looks better. thats just my advice, you're doing eveything else exceptionally, kudos
Thanks for the advice Carl, it's something I hadn't been told before. I do sharpen heavily, but always try to minimize the artifacts it creates. My preferred image is high contrast & color saturated, with very fine detail. I definitely push those qualities as far as my limited skills allow, but will keep your feedback in mind.
Great Capture, definitely one for my favorites. Do you use a lens set that fits your camera or just hold a filter in front? I have been wanting to get some filters but I don't think they make any designed to fit my DiMAGE Z1.
According to DPReview, the Z1 takes filters with help from an adapter.
All my filters are either (threaded) circular polarizers or neutral density filters. The filter I used on this shot and most of the others in this gallery was a blue/gold circular polarizer from Singh-Ray. They're expensive and non-returnable, but I've never regretted the purchase.
10/10 and in my favourites. This really stands out in the gallery. Its all been said but the colours in this are amazing in fact the whole photo is amazing. Thanks for sharing this.
:o)
This is a beautiful photo as well, but I still cant help but wonder why the gorgeous California Coast doesnt have a sunset that is just grand 'without' shooting thru a filter. I know they are fun and it enhances it but please tell me what made you decide to use it.
I looked at this some time ago, voted on it and put it in my favs but apparently never said anything. I love it! Great shot and great view. If did post this before just pick the most glowing report. Good work.
Ephesians 2: 8 & 9, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Why did Jesus have to die on the cross if all it took was good works to get to heaven? And if you had to earn salvation it wouldn't be a gift, it would be a wage. And if you had to be good enough to get saved then how do you know when your there?
Thanks to everyone who looks at, or takes a copy of this shot. It's by far my most popular image and as of the end of September 2017, been looked at 10,052 times and downloaded 5,502 times. Also favorited by 84 kind and generous souls. Maybe I should go prospecting at the beach more often.
