Looks nice, the first impression, but the manip pushes the viewer off on closer scrutiny.
See, the sea is red, or golden red with the wavelenght light of a setting sun. Then for some reason the sly is totally blue, when it should be reddish as well.
And then the glimmer in the top?
If the sun is setting, then what is that up there?
It's a nice manip, you've done the work well, but the consistency is lacking. Unless I take an approach to it that anything goes. Little more thought on the manip and you'll be making arty pics in no time, the skills you seem to have.
the colours are _almost_ on opposite sides of a colour cirlce tending towards gold (slightly yellowy - red aka orangey) & blue and work very well together
if possible Id have placed the bird flying INTO the frame rather than flying out of it
and a slight recropping + rescalling widthwise (only slight and no one will be able to tell its been stretched) would help push the sun over a tad more to the right thus maybe having the bird 1/3rd-ish in on the left and the sun tending to be 1/3rd-ish on the right
that said ... I really enjoyed this image and thanks for sharing
Thanks for the feedback. Both comments are relevant, however the manipulation was only in the colors, not in the addition or movement of objects. The filter I used created a very orange/red image that was not as appealing as I wanted. The sun flare, bird and all other elements appear exactly in the positions they were originally captured.
I would not criticize this shot for failure to conform to reality. One of the fun things about digital photography is the abilty to escape from the laws of nature for a while. Congratulations on a beautiful image.
