Thanks all for the nice thoughts.
As for the picture, it took me the better part of two weeks to compose the scene. Then a higher rez version was lost in a power failure after 3 weeks of rendering. Ouch.
This one only took 136 hours at fairly low quality settings. The software is multi-thread compatible and needs a more powerful machine than my ancient G4. Maybe Santa will bring a new 8-core Mac Pro and a backup power supply.

awesome! the only thing is it looks kinda strange to me that the clouds are so low that they are that close to the water, but i guess that's just me.
Anyway, it's a great composition (incomparably better than anything i could do) :P

Looks fantastic, the sky is beautiful. Photoreal for sure. I feel there is too much water though, if its elevation was decreased a bit it might give the scene a more grand feel.
