A new and I think, improved, take on the previous effort (Joy), using a 100mm macro lens instead of the MP-E 65. Both shots were at 1X and lit with a ring flash.

Russ, I cannot speak to the previous effort, but I can say this one is extraordinary. But, being a fan of your work, I bet the other one was too!

For anyone thinking about getting into macrophotography, this new Canon 100mm is the bomb. For pictures like this, you'll also need a ring flash or Canon's Twin-Lite. Check out Nissin's new ring flash if you're leaning that way, it rival's Canon's strobe and it's cheaper.
