A half inch long green bee, all alone in a great big world. They're very sensitive to movement, but fortunately don't react to the strobe firing and I can sometimes get several decent shots. I believe this is a male Agapostemon texanus, or green sweat bee. The females are solid green from end to end. It's a rare treat to even find these guys, let alone get close enough to shoot one.
From that of the vivid neon green of the bee.. to that of the purple of the flowers.
Makes for a very striking contrast, enhanced by the negative space of the dark background.
Good good composition, as well.
Very nice shot, Russ.
