Another pre-1918 European postcard collected right after World War One by my grandfather, Grover Hendricks, during his service with the US Army in France. This scene has always struck me by how peaceful and idyllic life in the French suburbs appears to be at the time. And this group of children seemed to have been caught completely by surprise on the way to some great adventure.

The people look happy and proud to be photographed. How different life was then !

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

Another one where the photographer/camera has stopped life for a split second Russ.

People are like cameras--sometimes they lose focus.
