This is a very cute fun picture. You have made the most of a fleeting opportunity. From this angle it is pretty hard to make a certain identification, but I am inclined to think it might be a nuthatch. They are known for being quite tame. I have even had one eat seeds from my hand a time or two.

I doubt that a Carolina Wren would fly all the way to Missouri to watch a Cardinals game, now a nuthatch, that may be another story. Seriously, your son is either very lucky or a highly skilled photographer, and I prefer the latter. I agree with everything jzaw has said previously, and concur that this is brilliant image, amazingly composed. To capture the little bird is one thing, but to capture that many smiling men simultaneously is nothing short of miraculous. I'll bet the Cardinals were winning! Great shot........Neil
