Waterspouts are weak tornadoes over water. I apologize that this shot isn't really sharp. Blame dim light and a camera handheld by an excited guy. My first sighting of a waterspout, which dissipated before reaching our backyard. A snapshot, but perhaps of general interest?

Excuse me, but all I have to say to this is: YIKES!!!! How did you manage to hold the camera and stand still long enough to shoot this? Very cool.

I'd love to see a waterspout in person, from a distance that is. Great Shot!

I really wouldn't call this a snapshot...it's a great nature shot...very timely and dramatic...l also think it's a great capture of the water and sky even without the waterspout...excellent capture.:Pat.

i really like this shot. the yellow of the house really stands out nicely against the sea of gray. i also like the layers of gray-orange-gray. and it looks like you got the background city perfectly framed by the curve of the waterspout. i might crop out those random silhouettes on the very bottom of the photo. but on the whole, nicely done!

Looks to me like quite a few people liked your photo as do I. A waterspout is a rare catch. I love the yellowish foreboding atmosphere of this photo. As for your declation that the shot isn't really sharp, that was easily corrected by my running it through a simple little photo editing program I have. I sharpened the photo +2 and that took care of your complaint.

Nothing wrong with this. A unique capture.

You were incredibly fortunate to be home, with a camera in reach. I love the yellow of the house and that odd stormy lighting. It's a winner here, glad you shared.

that's amazing. I've seen a couple tornados and funnel clouds, but have only seen water spouts on t.v. I've always been curious about small spinning anomalies, even the swirl of some dust or leaves. You captured a really good shot that provokes awe and curiousity.

Too bad about the clarity, but the lighting is so dramatic, and the subject such an elusive one, that this deserves full marks. The house on the left is really well lit too.. great work.

A little late on the comment, but hey, I've been on Caedes less than a week. I like this shot alot! Nature is so powerful and unpredictable. I agree, for a "snapshot", this is a very powerful pic...the way the spout draws your eye to the houses on the right is very nice. Great shot!

That is just so awesome! You've found a gap in the market- a niche - tornadoes and the even more illusive waterspouts! I can only dream of being there at the right time and place (and with a camera!)... One of the best photos in a long time...
