I think Brown Pelicans are great! They are funny, beautiful, and graceful, all at the same time. When I saw this scene and started to photograph it, several pelicans flew off their posts. Before my "antique" digital camera was ready for a second shot, most were gone.

What a kodak moment!. I love these birds too. Looks like they know where the fish are :). Thanks so much for sharing this funny photo with us!

I like it...it seems a little bit out of focus....but yes I do like it...they are funny. We used to use"sro" in the doc's office where I use to work and this fits the bill.

If you can't find the words, you may as well shoot it...

An explanation for cuddlebuddy48: I couldn't get close because of the skittishness of the birds, so this photo is a cropped image from a lowly 2.1 megapixel camera. I debated a while before even considering submitting it, and decided if I selected the sky and horizon and unshapened them a little, maybe the dock and birds would gain some "apparent" sharpness by comparison. Still, the image has considerable digital noise that I can't fix. If I could find a more modern camera with the features I want, I'd go shopping. Unfortunately, camera makers think video/sound capability and other frills in a deck-of-cards-size package are what consumers want these days; perhaps most do, but not me.

Very nice shot Bruce! It is a little fuzzy, but the composition is terrific. I hope you find the camera you are looking for soon because you have a good eye. Good job!

It's a good shot and so chararistic of these funny birds. I like your low angle on these tall posts and that you used them to fill up the frame

What a wonderful shot! And what is it about these funny pelicans that they can sit, sit, sit all day until you get out your camera?! I feel bad that you have to mess with an antique digital. I just got rid of mine because it drove me nearly to tears. (The one I have is just a bare step up but at least it's faster than the old one!)
You deserve to get a better camera because you take good shots that a lot of people are enjoying!

Nice image, you can say "a lucky shot", they won't stay if you want it. They "fly away"

If we could find the joy of finding a post and standing on it, how wonderful it would be and how much beauty we would NOT miss. Great photograph, thanks.

Looks like lake front property is hard to come by in the pelican world. Great post!
