Found this recently. A college professor identified it as a very nice specimen of mastodon teeth. Mastodons (and mammoths), of course, were elephant-like animals that went extinct about 10,000 years ago. So, this find is special to me and I decided to make up a "display photo" by combining a photo of it with a photo of red satin fabric. Not an image most folks would care to use as wallpaper, but I wanted to share this. The fossil is about 5 inches, left-to-right, as viewed here.

I find this site much more exciting than just wallpaper. To me it is also photography, manipulation, creativity and more. So this is spectacular.

Yesterday's history. Tomorrow's a mystery. Today's a gift. That's why it's called the present.

Love is not soft like water,it is hard like rock, on which the waves of hatred beat in vain.

Verena: Yes, I found it in an eroding beach area in Tampa Bay, and that was a real kick! However, the beach had been created by dredging material from the Bay, so this "chunk" had been dug up originally from what is now a deep shipping channel nearby. Still, it was a thrill to think I was the first human ever to see this fossil. I gave it to a nephew, to pass on the thrill!

Fascinating find and subject matter. Your choice of the red fabric as a backdrop brings out the detail nicely.
