This is the black-and-white rendition of the Construction Star also posted today. These stars were used to stabilize the brick walls of old buildings...each star was connected by an iron rod to its "mate" on another corner. The building (and star) date to the late 1700's. Thanks for coming to take a look!

The reason why the sunsets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

Very nice photo and love the textures in the scene and B&W goes very nicely with this photo.

A good eye to see it and the willingness to capture a part of history for us, Sharon. I've been involved in construction in various ways for many years, history, too, and I know we sometimes use elements like this to shore up tilting retaining walls but, like so many other objects and elements we produce in this country, we strive to make things simpler and cheaper and lose the charm of yesteryear in the process. This "star" today is nothing more than a square or iron. Functional but ugly. Remember the fins on the old Plymouths? Same concept. Good capture, Sharon. I think I'll send a copy of this to an architectural historian I know. She'll like it, too.

A unique an interesting glimpse into past decor and building. A nice contrast with the bricks and mortar. I like the choice of crop as well.
