What you see is the frog playing "dead". (my dog was chasing it around the yard; that is what got my attention in the first place.) Don't worry; after the picture it safely hopped away into the long grass. Enjoy!

Aw, he's beautiful! Good shot of him, too; nice color contrast, good lighting, fascinating pose.

Yesterday I found a very small froggie -- climbing up the inside of my livingroom window!
