Had the other thought, that perhaps a landscape orientation might work a tad better.. on the note of capturing your husband's entire shadow and offsetting him from the center.
But.. with the tree's verticals.. and your husband himself.. as well as the other lines within frame.. think you made a judicious choice of orientation and presentation.
And you and your camera did a good good job of shooting into the light/sun, which is challenging.

Thank you for your feedback, very much appreciated! I actually do have a landscape version of this shot and was debating on which one looked best. But like you said the verticals won it for me. I'll definitely see how the other orientation look though!
