Took this on Labour Day long weekend, 2007 at my cottage at Lake Malachi, Ontario. Canon 20D, 100-300mm Canon lens, no external flash, for anyone who cares. Nala is about 9 years old, female Rottie/Lab cross, about 90 pounds. We got her as a giveaway from an abusive home (or so we were told). Sweetest dog EVER.

I just had a similar dog put down (he was old and in a lot of pain). He was a 3-legged Old English cross who had been abused horribly...and I agree that many of these rescued dogs have very sweet personalities. Looks like both you and Nala came into a bit of luck when you found each other! I like this picture because it expresses her personality, and puts plenty of light on her face. You are coping with a bit of blow-out...but with pets you have to photograph when the moment is right.

Really nice shot. Love the watchfulness in the eyes. Ya just gotta love dogs. Their only purpose in life is to please their owner, and they do it very well.
