Tried for ages to get the colour right on this shot but gave up in the end. Played about with layer styles in CS5 then used Nik tools Silver Efex to create this.
A very unique treatment you've used here. I've seen a few filter styles that resemble this, applied to various photos, but they've usually just muddied up the image. By using a simple image with an isolated central subject, one that does contain it's own level of detail, you've gotten the best result out of this technique, I believe. There is detail in the grasses and fenceline on the right but not enough to conflict with the tree--both sections work very well on their own. Plus the details in the entire image, including the clouds, are tack-sharp. A beautiful piece of work and one that got very high marks from me, just now, in the photo booth. One for my favorites file, too, thanks.
