Noticed one of my neighbours, across the lake, fishing.
Used a Canon 300D and a 480mm(film equivalent) lens, at about 1/4 mile, to compose him and his ATV, on the near bare ice, and the reflections of the far shore, woods.
this is so interesting. all the black and white is very high contrast and then the person and car are in color. i like that. also the ice is so smooth. the combination of elements here make me stop and pay attention. good work. jen
WOW what a great shot, love how its all b&w except for your neighbour and ATV... the ice is magnificent how shiney and smooth, the reflections are great... did he catch anything?
Bluddy ell Doug! this is an awesome shot, you have shown us here!...Snapshooter is the perfect user name for you......So full of detail, I dont know where to start!...so all I will say
"CRACKIN" (no pun intended!).......thanks for showing it...........Bob
When I saw this on the New Images list I almost overlooked it. I'm glad I took to the time to open it up and look at it. It's great. The high contrast between the iceworld and the man is stark. The solitude of this individual at his work is near on awe inspiring. A remarkable shot. Excellent work.
I feel like I am fading. I've lost the Holy Ground. Maybe there's a chance, that the lost will be found.
If you saw a possum on the side of the road, would you too?
Wow! What an unusual photo. Very nice and well done. I'm not so sure about the kid on the ice...possible his elevator doesn't go all the way to the top. Good work.
Not to worry. Ice is 3' thick, and ski planes land on it, frequently. 4" of ice will handle cars and light trucks. It's a spring fed lake, without the problems of a strong current.
I'm sure you realize that for those of us who's water remains liquid or at least semi liquid year round this is a very surreal scene and we can't imagine testing our weight more than a couple of feet from shore. Do love the glass it makes and all the horizontal striations in this shot. Color work, as always puts the focus on the situation where it needs to be.
