I think these were the blooms of Prickly Pear Cactus. I came across them, on some government land, just West of Wickenburg.

It's a claret cup, also called hedgehog, cactus, not prickly pear. Very nice image in any case. Beautiful!

I feel like I am fading. I've lost the Holy Ground. Maybe there's a chance, that the lost will be found. If you saw a possum on the side of the road, would you too?

The center of theses flowers are beautiful. You've done a great job of capturing them too.

Wild bright pink flowers. I love them, mingled among the more nuetral colored spines. Well done again Doug!

Nice overall presentation, all details are in focus and crisp. I enjoy cacti and agree with DesertDenizen, this an "Echinocereus", probably an "Echinocereus enneacanthus", easily recognized by the green pistil. A wonderful shot, Doug. Congrats.

How wonderfully these screaming pink blooms stand out against the drab remainder of the cactus. You are to be commended on the "sharpness" of your focus and of the spines. Hope you didn't get too close!

Super detail with this image. Wonderful textures here with those sharp spines. The vibrant pinks are lovely against the bland spines. This deserves high votes. Thanks for this sharp image :*>
