Found this little guy, cowering in the grass, well back in the woods. His mother, (I found out, later) had been killed by a big Husky. Took a few hours to get a formula he would accept, but once he started eating, he didn't like stopping. I raised him throughout the summer, with him following me everywhere. He even learned to open the fridge, and help himself. I had friends who wanted to keep him, on their farm, and turned Frito over to them, in the Fall. He lived in the house, at first, but eventually moved to the barn, and wintered there.

He certainly is enjoying that formula isn't he?. That was such a kind thing for you to raise him until he could find a better suited one. Such an adorable photo.

Great pic. Don't think I would want one of those critters though. We run them off because of the cats.

This is an adorable image as well as a great story Doug! I have these critters on my deck...they destroy my bird feeders! But this baby is so cute and how dedicated you were to keep trying formulas until one seemed to work. I love animals and wildlife and this picture. Thank you for sharing this with us :~)

Absolutely precious! I feed outdoor stray cats and find that I have "adopted" a raccoon family too. They come at night. I've decided it's better to feed them and keep them healthy with good food than to drive them away and find that we have sickly ones that could, in turn, hurt the cats.

Wow! That's adorable! The milk dripping off his chin.. too cute. This picture reminds me of the old kids movie "The Fox and the Hound", though this is a bandit, not a fox. Right now, we're trying to cage one that keeps eating my cat's food..

Thanks for sharing this, it made my evening : )

I ABSOLUTLY LOVE FRITO. WHEN I WAS YOUNG AROUND 8 OR 9, WE ALSO FOUND A SMALL COON, AND NAMED HIM RUGBY! WE NURSED HIM BACK FROM NEAR DEATH AND NOW BEING 34 I THINK OF HIM OFTEN! I HAVE SO MANY FUN AND GREAT STORIES. I MISS HIM DEARLY AND LOVED HIS PLAYFUL NATURE ALL OF THE TIME. WHEN I SEEN THIS PICTURE I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT!!! HE LOVED THE CHEESE NIPS AND WOULD ALWAYS FIND HIM RIGHT BY THE CUPBOARD SITTING IN HIS BUM WITH THE NIPS BOX IN LAP AND CHEESE ALL OVER HIS FACE!!! I ALSO MISS, AFTER MY MOM PUT ME TO BED, I WOULD HEAR HIS GENTLE LITTLE GROWL AND HIS GLOWING EYES COME OUT OF THE CLOSET AND WE WOULD PLAY UNTIL MOM HEARD US AND CAME IN FOR HIM!

GREAT PICTURE!!!

We had one that would come by a couple of nights a week after sundown and beg for a cookie, carry it to the pond and wash it off, bring it back and sit on his rump in front of us munching away. Beautiful, curious and very crafty.

Why is it Doug I keep coming back to this wonderful photo ? to be honest Doug, this for me is one of the best photos on the whole darn site, I just love it, I have even printed it out and framed the photo, it's now hanging in the back bedroom, and even my 82 year old Mum has a copy of it in the toilet, will you now stop posting your work as it's costing me to much money in frames.....if you do keep posting, I will send you the bill.......lol.

Regards, ( And keep posting )
