I thought it to be a very colourful entrance to a 1960's coffee house, in old Quebec. I opened the door, to what appeared to be a private residence, closed it as quickly, but still had the presumed owner, follow me to the middle of the street, loudly berating us in French, far faster than I could comprehend. I suggested discussing it with the local police, and he, just as quickly, vacated the scene.

A very cool looking doorway and I love the back lighting effect. Too bad about loosing the top of the arch ..

What a strange thing to place on you door if you don't want people knocking or coming in. But for 25c i doubt it the coffee would have been any good. I think it is a great photo, well taken and its always good to have a story behind the photo. Keep up the great work

Such a funny narration Doug. I agree with the others , maybe he should change the door LOL. Nice shot though and glad you got away unscathed or spending the night in jail for unlawful entry LOL. Thanks Doug!

If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs, then it’s possible that you don’t fully understand the situation.

His own fault! He should be used to it. I'll bet his beatnick poetry and bongo playing were bad as well. Was he wearing all black with a goatee? It has such a pure early 60s feel.
