This time of year, it's quite common to find turtles in the middle of the highway, absorbing heat from the asphalt. All to frequently, they are killed. I brought this little guy home with us today, and he let me take a few shots, before I introduced him to Buck Lake. The next shot, is up close, and personal

An excellent shot ..... great detail & clarity. Nice colorful markings on the turtle. I am happy you saved this little one from so many hazards & introduced the turtle to it's new home. Well done Doug.

Nice shot Doug, and nice framing!! This turtle seems to be same variety as one I posted before. I was told by a friend of mine that it is called a Painted Turtle...But you are right , they are being run over by vehicles...I was out to Holiday Beach Conservation area with the dogs this morning and seen some as roadkill...I took pictures of a turtle beside the road which I think is a snapping turtle...It was ugly...it was on edge of road where there was a boardwalk over the water..I was trying to get photos of water fowl and almost tripped over it :)) anyways I will post it...gerry..

Oh Doug, I love this little turtle. His markings are so beautiful. I too see alot of these killed in the highway but I try to avoid them or move them when I can. Very nice closeup.
