I've never seen this flower, till now. It is in the opening stage, I presume, as a couple of others nearby, seemed fuller. I suppose that's why the interior, appears as crushed velvet. Very deep, beautiful colour. Hope you enjoy it.

I have never seen a flower like this either. I do love the deep rich colors set against the pale green. It does have the appearance of crushed velvet ... very interesting. A fantastic capture Doug.

I'm thinking it could be a humble petunia, but would like you to show us a picture when it is in full bloom if that is possible. Wonderful color.

I agree with JoAnn... it does look like a petunia... an ordinary garden flower but the color on this one is fantastic and it does seem to have the texture of velvet... good job of conveying that.
