Eons ago, when this Planet's plates shifted, and the mountains were thrust upward, through the Earth's crust, it was a great day for roofers. First, this isn't a manipulation. Just a long telephoto lens, that compresses distance. It's also from an old slide, that has seen better days. This is a valley, just North of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and the building is just one of many, on a long deserted ranch site. It is the same ranch that was used in the filming of a pretty good Western, "Shane", with Alan Ladd. Sorry about the quality, but I thought it might still be interesting, to some of you.

I love the movie "Shane " and watch it everytime I know it is on TV. I think this gives it a very deserving rustic look Doug. Thanks for sharing this with us and giving the history behind it.

Yup that's it, seen "Shane" many times you've done Alan Ladd proud Doug and I'm sure he's smiling down on you now.

This is great Doug ... at first I thought it was a painting until I read the narration. I love the movie "Shane" ... a great movie. The Tetons are my favorite mountain scape ... I'd love to get back to that area again. A very nice capture & I love the rustic look to the cabin. Thank you for sharing.

Very interesting. I didn't know they built a house around the Tetons. What is this? Vintage 1800's? Nice work.

The Bible tells us to love our neighbors, and also to love our enemies; probably because generally they are the same people. G. K. Chesterton ........ My Gallery

I love these old slides, they just glow like the way the mountains seem to erode into the sky. The light in the window is a nice touch.
