Night, comes very fast, in the desert. Seems like only minutes, on the East side of the Rockies. And here, in Joshua Tree N.P., you better be close to your vehicle, and have a flashlight with you.

A very dramatic picture Doug. You have portrayed the isolation of the area well. Black and white - perfect for it.
It looks cold?

Beautiful Doug, just beautiful. I like the black/white as well and agree with LynEve, it sure makes it very dramatic. Very nicely done and thanks for sharing it. Anita

What a unique image, Doug. I think the black and white captured something that would never have come through in color.

I have to agree with those above. Normally I don't favor B&W over Color ... but there's no question B&W was perfect for this image. It captures the textures in the night sky and grassland just beautifully. Very much like the composition on this one too Doug. That tree or cactus (unfamiliar with it) is placed perfectly. The tiny bits of the night sky on some of it's needle points make for excellent detail. You have a winner here in my opinion.

Just an old "Grampa" who still has a Kodak "Box" camera kicking around the attic ... learning and enjoying the wonders of modern digital photography.

The B / W is perfect for this image. I love the silhouettes of the Joshua Tree & the rocky background against the darkening sky. Very nicely done Doug.

Spooky looking. I bet the landscape takes on all kinds of shapes in the dark. The B&W is the only effective way this could have been posted. It's perfect.

Excellent silouette, Doug. Very dramatic, and now in my screenshow.

BTW, I'm glad you liked my shot of the young couple. I've not been shooting at all lately. This place is several blocks from where we live and I finally shot it the other day for the first time. Cheers! - Dave

Hey Doug....I've been slowly going thru your gallery...and this photo here just is amazing to me. I would never ever have thought this would look good in black and white, but wow...talk about drama! Its wonderful!!The silhouette of the tree, a Joshua tree,,, I've never seen one for real...well, its just lovely....the textures just flow thru this photo...Verena

Night Shades Falling. - The Joshua Tree intrigues me. Something like a giant cactus, I suppose.
In the early days, they were widely used in making furniture, as they were the only trees, in the desert.
Glad you liked it, Verens.
