Sun has just risen above the horizon, and shines on the cemetery of Terlingua. This is part of the town of the same name which sits on a hill directly above the remnants of the original Terlingua. All are situated just minutes from the Rio Grande, (originally Rio Bravo), in the Big Bend country of Southwest Texas.

What a beautiful shot. The photo seems to be perfectly balanced. Wonderfully articulate colors, sophisticated use of light and dark contrast.
The shadows are striking. I just can't figure out where your shadow is. You're not a ghost, are you? I noticed that the cross in the right foreground is casting a shadow to the left indicating that the sun is rising over your right shoulder. But the shadows on the left seem to indicate that the sun is over your left shoulder.
Just so you know, when a photo makes me think that much, I consider it an excellent shot. Fav and nominated.

I am fascinated by these types of scenes. Histories Mysteries just ooze out of every rock,every grave marker. Who is buried there, what kind of life did the lead. Thank You For posting this wonderful and intriguing image.

I love the tilted grave markers and the shadows. They really add to the "atmosphere" of the place.
